Cycling in Niagara
The Niagara Region has some of the best cycling in Canada. Blessed with natural beauty and a relatively flat terrain the opportunities for a wonderful afternoon exploring on a bicycle are abound. The Greater Niagara Circle Route itself has over 140 km’s of bicycle paths to enjoy. The jewel of this route is the Niagara River Recreation Trail also known as the Niagara Parkway.
The Niagara Parkway

Churchill once called “the prettiest Sunday drive”. The Niagara Parkway is full of historic landmarks, popular attractions and natural beauty. The Niagara River Recreation Trail runs alongside the Niagara River extending for 53 km (33 miles) from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Sightseeing, taking photos or simply stopping for a picnic, the Niagara Parkway is the perfect setting.
Self-Guided Tour
The self-guided tour allows you the freedom to explore at your own pace. Linger at a favourite location or move onto the next attraction. You may decide to venture from the Parkway path to explore a winery or shop. We provide the bike at your starting point and give you a location to drop off your bike when you are finished. What you do in-between is up to you.
We have designed three easy routes along the Niagara Parkway that are a perfect introduction to the area. Use our map to guide you along or you can download these routes to your iPhone or GPS device (if compatible).

Niagara Falls to Queenston Heights and back
This is a very relaxing easy ride with a lot of great sights to see along the way as you retrace the path the Falls’ have taken. There is a great combination of Natural beauty and rich history to explore on your journey. You can even combine some excellent hiking at the Niagara Glen Nature Area (be advised the trails can be dangerous so please ensure you have proper hiking shoes with you). Most of the ride has great places to stop and have a picnic. You can pick up some snacks on Queen St. in Niagara Falls as you head along the Parkway.
Parkway cruise to the Chippawa Battlefield
This a great leisurely ride along the beautiful Niagara Parkway. Going south (up river) from the falls allows you to get away from the crowds. This ride has some great views of the Niagara River and there are numerous sights to see. Some of the sites include: Brink of the Horseshoe Falls, Toronto Power Station, Stranded Barge, International Hydro Control Dam, Kings Bridge Park, Navy Island, Chippawa Battlefield and Memorial.
Niagara Falls to Niagara-On-The-Lake
This is a fantastic route that encompasses both natural beauty, history, and culture. It is a very easy ride as it is down hill most of the way. The Niagara Parkway Recreation Trail is the main path used for 90% of the journey which makes for a safe and comfortable ride. There are many opportunities to stop along the way to explore the natural landscape, learn about famous battles, taste some ice wine or indulge in the fresh local produce.
